Here in New York adult kick scooters are becoming more and more popular.
Even a few years ago the sight of a older person riding on a scooter might
have turned a few heads, but now they’ve a very common sight. There’s
certainly no questioning their usefulness. With a kick scooter you can cut
your commute time in half, it’s easy on the knees, and also great for
multi-modal commutes that require subway and bus transfers. Thanks for
watching! – Jack

Guys if you order this scooter prop it upside down and check the spin time
of both wheels. I found the spin time of my back wheel was significantly
shorter than the front one. Loosened the nut a bit with some pliers and it
improved dramatically. Also, dampen a paper towel with something like
alcohol and jam it in between the back wheel and the steel frame. Give it a
few good spins, that should clean out any dirt or gunk trapped in there.

Yes, these go pretty fast. We should be getting some more in by the first
of Nov. If you want to make sure and nab one, it’s best to preorder via the
link embedded in the video – jack

Hey guys, you seem to be out of stock! When will these great scooter be
back?

mygif
jamespohh said in December 28th, 2013 at 7:58 am

Doesn’t make sense. It’s just a single joint. You should be able to just
slide the tube up and fold the handlebar down with the velcro strap facing
down against the back wheel.

Zai Zaleski said in December 28th, 2013 at 8:56 am

Just received the kickped. It seems now it’s folded differently aye? You
have to turn the handles before it can be folded. Is it supposed to be like
that?

Not every city. They dont ship out within the us, wanted one sent to the
uk. No go, booooo

NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 9:24 am

That’s right, the large rubber tires on the KickPed will make rides
smoother but also a little slower than the City Kicker which has thin
faster polyurethane tires. – jack

Thanks – I just ordered one. One more question. I noticed on the latest
goped knowpeds, they use a nifty, better looking metal latch on the
handlebar to fold and lock the handlebar to the rear fender rather than the
cloth you folks use. Are there plans to put this on the kickpeds?

mygif
NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 9:52 am

The smaller KickPed folds exactly the same as the large. The handlebar is 4
inches shorter, but it still has a strap that will fit over the rear
fender, and allow you to carry it over your shoulder. All the best- Jack

Sulemaan, kickped is not as fast as Xootr or Razor, but it rides smoother.
And I didn’t realize the difference in speed until I tried Xootr.

mygif
Rishi O. said in December 28th, 2013 at 11:03 am

I’m 5’6″ and looking into ordering the smaller kickped. I heard on a review
that the smaller version of the kickped can’t be folded and carried on your
shoulder as the larger one can. Is this true?

mygif
NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 11:49 am

The only Kick Ped we offer is with the updated narrower deck, and we can’t
do any custom mods. Have you checked out any of our Xootr models? The City
Kicker has a much wider deck that could be closer to what you’re looking
for. All the best -jack

About how fast does the kick ped go ?

mygif
LackadaisicalE said in December 28th, 2013 at 11:55 am

QUESTION: I understand this is mainly a taller version of the Goped with a
narrower deck and no front brake. BUT could I get this tall version with
the normal broad goped deck instead of the narrow version? PLEASE REPLY 🙂

NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 12:18 pm

No, the Kickped uses much larger industrial bearings, I believe “6000Z”

mygif
Zai Zaleski said in December 28th, 2013 at 12:21 pm

Can i use any skate bearings with this?

NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 6:04 pm

@VJ254 Hmm, that’s a fair point and may be true. The Xootr is faster but it
does have more road shock. Have you checked out our KickPed video? We
modified the classic Goped kick scooter design to make it a bit sportier
and performance oriented still. What do you think? -Peter

mygif
VJ254 said in December 28th, 2013 at 6:44 pm

I prefer the goped, much more stable and smoother ride. I can ride very
fast, I doubt a xootr could beat me in a race unless the riding surface was
a gym floor, a race of a mile on roads would wear the xootr rider out with
the constant pounding from the hard tires.

asssface2000 said in December 28th, 2013 at 7:33 pm

how much? and y do i have to ask?

mygif
NYCeWheels said in December 28th, 2013 at 7:53 pm

@boltthesuperdog98 its actually one of the toughest kick scooters. We sell
those mostly to adults for commuting in NYC (pretty rough pavement). I
don’t think our lawyers and doctors do grinds and half-pipes on the way to
Wall street, so couldn’t tell you how they hold up for that.

Engage Overdrive said in December 28th, 2013 at 9:18 pm

Yes there are a lot of jerks out there that do that. The scooters can
provide better excercise than a bike or jogging. So you probably will
outlive the detractors.

@SerMarelli I agree, contact xootr com directly for oversee shipping. It
might cost as much as $100 : ( We have a lot of customers from the UK that
have friends traveling to the US and pick one up in the shop in NYC, might
be an option.

I have been using a Xootr for over four years and it has been a fun way to
get excercise for me during the day. On well paved streets you can easily
get over 30mph on a slight downhill – so wear a helmet and learn to brake
with both wheels! I used a scooter during a GOUT attack and it allowed me
to get to work without crutches and I had so much fun that I upgraded to an
adult sized Xootr. Now I keep it in the trunk of my car and get my
excercise everyday with it.

mygif
NYCeWheels said in December 29th, 2013 at 3:19 am

@bigmodaco We have so many great stories of people like you and your wife
getting exercise, having fun, and getting around more quickly on kick
scooters. Xootr is definitely a great choice. Thanks commenting! -Peter

NYCeWheels said in December 29th, 2013 at 5:32 am

@SerMarelli We will have time over the winter months to add some more
videos but they are very time consuming to produce (4-8 hours including
editing) The RAzor A5 Kick scooter is a pretty good deal and works for
riders 5’10” or shorter. The weight capacity is a little less than the
Xootr kick scooter and the deck is much shorter. The Razor A5 is more
compact when folded and about 2 lbs lighter. Hope that helps.

mygif
Vanitaem said in December 29th, 2013 at 6:20 am

I dont wanna complain , i think is an amazing scooter but i feel the price
is too high. I got an way cheaper scooter for only 50 bucks , it got all
the features of this one. Im just saying , apart of the most mature look
for older people, it is a lil pricey for younger one.Im unsure if the raxor
lux haves an hand break but is really helpful when riding on the city.
